| Delivery Mode: | Instructor-led Classroom |
| Prerequisites: | Pre-reading: Chapter 1 in Software Requirements Memory Jogger. |
| Course Length: | 2 days |
| Description: | This interactive two-day course builds your skills in scope modeling, a crucial first step in developing project requirements. You'll learn to quickly elicit, analyze, and specify eight requirements models that help you clearly define the boundaries of your project. These scope models take much of the guesswork out of project planning and are invaluable for later detailed analysis modeling. The models work for a range of tasks, launching new development projects, selecting commercial off-the-shelf software packages, and defining the scope of system enhancements.
The course leverages the EBG Requirements Roadmap* as a guide to select, build, verify, and validate scope-level requirements models. You'll learn how the models interconnect to provide a rich set of requirements representations. In the first part of the course, you'll gain hands-on experience working in a small team to create each scope-level requirements model, one model at a time. Then, during the simulation, the class will be guided by the instructor to quickly build multiple requirements models in tandem. Next comes the practicum, when each team will tackle a new case study. This practical application (creating eight models in tandem) is a powerful way to reinforce the process of multi-modeling scope requirements. In this carefully designed and executed learning environment you'll actively learn through lecture, examples, discussions, exercises, and review sessions. This course is endorsed by the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA®) and aligns with the IIBA's Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK®) applicable tasks and techniques. You'll earn 14 PDs (Professional Development hours) or 14 CDUs (Continuing Education Units) by attending this course. *The EBG Requirements Roadmap is a set of interrelated models (behavioral, structural, dynamic, and control) at varying levels of detail. |
| Who Should Attend: | This course is especially valuable for business analysts, subject matter experts, project managers, and other leaders responsible for defining the boundaries of a project. Others who can benefit are business rule analysts, application analysts, data or object analysts, data architects, and data administrators- anyone involved in analyzing, specifying, verifying, and validating requirements at a scope level. |
