The Situation
This global supply-chain company needed to define business requirements for a series of projects it was planning. The goal of these projects was to accommodate customer growth and boost revenues. The project leaders needed a clear understanding of the company’s business processes, and this in turn would be the basis for making smart technology choices and implementing actions to improve business processes.
EBG Consulting designed and facilitated a multiday workshop attended by the business stakeholders. In the workshop, the business people crafted a vision statement, defined the scope of the project, constructed a set of interrelated business models, and agreed on a next-steps action plan. The workshop was so successful that business management decided to bring in EBG Consulting to train key staff on how to design and run workshops.

The Situation
This healthcare provider was challenged by the need to manage multiple business-critical projects on tight time lines. Its key business analyst (BA) staff, some twenty-two business analysts, had gaps in their requirements development and management skills. In addition, the various BAs were documenting requirements inconsistently.
EBG Consulting provided instructor-led Roadmap training for all the BAs and BA managers. We also conducted our Overview version of the training for the test managers and project managers—team members who interfaced with BA deliverables and worked in collaboration with BA processes.
As the analysts began to use some of the techniques they had learned, they and their managers realized that they needed expert support and coaching to most efficiently apply their skills to their specific projects.
Beta chose its most critical and risky project as the subject of a requirements clinic. In this action-packed session, the participants created draft business processes, scope models, scenarios, and a next-steps action plan, and they reached agreement on a subset of techniques to further define requirements. In addition, the clinic format allowed them to resolve numerous difficult problems with business and user requirements—problems that formerly had not been acknowledged.
Soon after, Beta brought in EBG Consulting to train Beta’s business analysts on facilitated workshops.
To sustain learning, Beta also signed on for EBG’s virtual coaching. In a series of four monthly “Brown Bags” tailored to Beta’s needs, the BAs and their managers explored a diverse set of topics on which they needed deeper knowledge: organizing requirements types, using requirements models to supplement textual requirements, integrating various analysis models into existing documentation, organizing and tracing business rules, and designing requirements workshops.

The Situation
This global high-tech company was committed to superior product development and adoption of best practices. Over the past four years, Gamma has used many EBG Consulting services to increase the productivity and quality of its product development practices.
Gamma first used EBG Consulting for a facilitated requirements workshop for a business-critical project having software and hardware components. The success of this workshop led the company to bring in EBG Consulting again for an architecture workshop. In this session, product managers built a product Roadmap for a next-generation product line.
Having realized the business value of workshops on two projects, Gamma decided to bring these competencies in-house, and EBG Consulting delivered facilitated workshop training to the staff. Within six months, Gamma used EBG Consulting’s process improvement workshop solution to design a repeatable workshop process for delivering product quality attributes critical to its product line architecture. Several months later, Gamma used EBG Consulting’s requirements clinic to resolve requirements problems on a complex project.
To improve project outcomes, Gamma needed help with its skills development plans. Again it called on EBG Consulting, this time to deliver retrospective training. After seeing the results of this training for project managers, Gamma ordered it repeated for all its technical project managers.
Recognizing the need for more skills in analysis modeling, Gamma brought in EBG Consulting to deliver instructor-led Roadmap training. Most recently, EBG Consulting provided in-depth training on business rules. EBG Consulting also conducted event modeling training, followed by a requirements clinic for a difficult project involving many external stakeholders.

The Situation

Over several years, Delta brought EBG Consulting into its organization for instructor-led Roadmap training for business product managers, project leads, business analysts, and lead developers. Each training course was immediately followed by on-site requirements mentoring sessions to enable staff to get immediate, on-site, timely coaching on their requirements work.
Delta also used EBG Consulting to design and facilitate a requirements workshop for a new financial application. In this engagement, Delta’s business analysts and the project managers were mentored in workshop design processes, and they now employ these same techniques independently.

The Situation
This global healthcare company needed to customize a packaged software solution (commercial off-the-shelf software) to automate a critical business process. It was essential that it get the requirements right.
EBG Consulting delivered a Roadmap training course for the team and staff. This training was immediately followed by a one-day requirements clinic to articulate the vision and scope-level requirements for this project.
Epsilon then used EBG Consulting for a series of three additional clinics for the project. These clinics provided Epsilon with specific guidance for this critical project on eliciting requirements, identifying appropriate analysis models, tailoring templates to fit documentation needs, and selecting and using efficient techniques to verify and validate the requirements.

The Situation
This financial services company needed to improve its skills in eliciting requirements by using facilitated workshops. EBG Consulting delivered a series of facilitated workshop training courses to business analysts, project managers, requirements engineers, and other key team members.
