Welcome to our Newsletter

In celebration of the upcoming Agile 2009 conference and the growing heat around all things agile, my theme for this month's issue is agile requirements and agile business analysis. And, since it's summer in the northern parts of our globe and many folks take holiday this time of year, I'll be brief. I'll share more in-depth reading on agile requirements soon. Meantime, I hope you find the resource pointers in this issue interesting and worthwhile. I think they are.

Resources on Agile Requirements and Agile Business Analysis

Scott Ambler has many good writings on agile modeling. One of my favorites is his description of "Just Barely Good Enough Models and Documents."

In their presentation "The Yawning Crevasse of Doom" (video, no slides), Dan North and Martin Fowler discuss closing the communication gap between developers and customers or users. Martin describes a wonderful analogy about agile analysis - the ferryboat or bridge. Listen to their engaging presentation to learn more.

Akshay Dhavle discusses what role a business analyst plays on an agile project in his blog post. Read the stream of responses below for some interesting reader reactions.

Listen to my podcast discussion on agile requirements with Tom Cagley (part 1) about my experiences with agile requirements, collaboration, and other topics. In Part 2 we discuss work ahead agile requirements, user stories, collaboration, and more.

Agile 2009 and Recommended Personas

The program for Agile 2009 is impressive. I'm looking forward to presenting my new tutorial, "Beyond User Stories: Identifying Missing Links in Your Product Backlog."

If you are attending, be sure to check out the top sessions recommended for these two personas: Billy the Business Analyst and Padma, the Struggling Product Owner. If you'll be there, please email me so we can get together at the conference.
