Agile-BABOK Addendum Call for Volunteers

Do you have experience working in an Agile environment? Want to share your knowledge and experience - and get the chance to collaborate on an effort that will benefit our worldwide community?

The International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) is developing an Agile addendum to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge BABOK® to reflect Agile working practices, knowledge, skills, and competencies.

Over the next six months, we aim to develop:

an introduction to Agile practices for business analysts;

an overview of business analysis for Agile practitioners;

a statement of the typical working practices followed by Agile business analysts; and

an overview of the roles, skills, and competencies needed - especially those that may be new to many business analysts.

The addendum will initially be delivered as an online knowledgebase and an appendix document to the existing BABOK® with a view to it becoming incorporated in version 3.0.

To that end, we are putting together a global team of business analysts experienced with Agile practices to collaborate with others in the Agile and business analysis communities. Our team facilitator (a.k.a. "scrum master") David Morris, in conjunction with the IIBA, will involve several agile business analysts and others from the agile community - including people from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK, and USA.

We're looking for an additional 5-6 people for the core team, and a network of others for them to work with.

Would you like to be involved? If you would like to contribute, have strong experience working on agile projects, and are able to donate around 5-10 hours per week for the next six months; then email david.morris@theiiba.org a brief description (no more than 2 sides of A4) of what you would be able to contribute along with an overview of your business analysis and Agile experience and qualifications. The effort will kick-off in earnest in new year.

Mary and I presented numerous sessions at the Project World/World Congress for Business Analysts conference. Adrian Marchis from Modern Analyst was there, attended several of our sessions and did a nice job blogging, in some detail, about our content-rich sessions.
