Free Resources for Navigating the IIBA BABOK (New One Just Added!)

In the October 2009 eNewsletter, I announced four new assets that can help you navigate the IIBA BABOK. Since then, we've been getting feedback from folks in North America, Europe, Africa and New Zealand. Here are a few of the comments: "extremely helpful," "fascinating," and "valuable information."

The IIBA Orange County, CA Chapter's Education Chair, Jeanette Carmichael wrote, "Thanks for all the great content; my chapter's CBAP study group members really love what you have done."

Mary and I are gratified that the business analysis community is benefitting from these navigation tools.

We've just published a fifth navigator listing. It lists 38 commonly used requirements models with references to their locations in the BABOK and The Software Requirements Memory Jogger (my how-to pocket or desktop guide). And we have recently reformatted the four original listing to make them easier to read.

You'll find all five BABOK navigator listings on EBG's resources page.

BTW, if you haven't taken advantage of Mary's webinar "Navigation Tips for Exploring the IIBA BABOK," use this link to access the webinar recording. You can obtain the webinar's slides here. The webinar helps you visualize the underlying foundation of the BABOK's knowledge areas, tasks and techniques. It traces foundation elements throughout the BABOK and utilizes analysis techniques (e.g., context diagram, data model, stories, state diagram) to help you explore the BABOK.

How are you navigating the BABOK? Send your ideas to Mary. We'll be featuring more strategies throughout the year.

Requirements eLearning Featured in Blended Training

Some of our clients blend our content-rich eLearning curriculum, Management, with our highly interactive, skill-building instructor-led training (ILT).

Even if you don't blend it with our ILT, this self-paced eLearning may be useful to you. It is aligned with the BABOK® 2.0, is endorsed by the IIBA, and earns you 24 CDUs. You can dip in and out of eLearning courses at any time once you are registered, and access the rich templates, checklists, guidelines, real project scenarios, and quick checks.

Whether you study the curriculum on your own or with a study group (a set of people in the same organization gather to discuss the training); use it to prepare for your Certified Business Analysis Professional® (CBAP®) exam, or blend it with our instructor-led training, you will find our unique cross reference of the eLearning curriculum, BABOK, and the Jogger useful.
